Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies Academic, Dr Leonard Lewisohn, has sadly passed away

The staff and students of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter, are very sad to announce that, on Monday 6 August, our colleague and friend Dr. Leonard Lewisohn passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. 

Many thanks to those who have written to express condolences for the untimely loss of our colleague Lenny. For those who wish to write a message, we have opened an online board at:

For those in Exeter, we have put up a pinboard for hand-written tributes and condolences within the Institute. We will collect and present both to Lenny's wife in due course. We will also be planning a more lasting tribute when term starts.

Lenny was Iran Heritage Foundation Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Persian and Sufi literature.
