Exeter breaks into world top 150 for Business and Economics

The University of Exeter has broken into the top 150 in the world for Business and Economics in an influential rankings.

Business and Economics, taught at the University of Exeter Business School, has been ranked 126-150 in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject 2022, released today (13 October 2021).

The ranking is an improvement of roughly 25 places, and is the 25th best showing in this subject area by a UK university.

Universities were assessed by their performance in the following disciplines: business and management, accounting and finance, and economics and econometrics.

The subject rankings provide an annual list of the best institutions in the world to study Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Education and Law.

Exeter ranked 101–125 for Social Sciences, 101–125 for Education and 126–150 for Law.

This year saw 795 universities ranked for Business and Economics, 870 universities for Social Sciences, 257 universities for law and 597 universities for Education.

Professor Alexandra Gerbasi, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor and Deputy Dean of the University of Exeter Business School, said: “We are delighted to have risen in these rankings and to be among the top 150 in the world for Business and Economics.

“It’s a great credit to the entire Business School community, who despite the challenges of the last year have remained committed to providing ground-breaking research and teaching reflecting our core values of environmental sustainability, responsible leadership and technological innovation.”

The publication of these subject rankings follows the release of computer science and engineering earlier this month and four health and science subject rankings in September: clinical and health, life sciences, physical sciences and psychology.

The final THE subject ranking for 2022 on arts and humanities will be released on 3 November.
