InVEnTA launch event hosted by University of Exeter and Learning on Screen
The University of Exeter and Learning on Screen are holding an online launch event of innovative software tool InVEnTA to the academic market on Friday 22 October 2021 at 3pm.
Developed with support from Exeter's Education Incubator, InVEnTA (Interactive Virtual Environments for Teaching and Assessment) uses geospatial and visualisation technology to create and explore immersive free-roaming interactive virtual environments.
It offers "virtual field trips" where students can visit locations such as the Arctic Circle or the Patagonian glacial sheets without leaving home.
The brainchild of Dr Anne Le Brocq, Dr Damien Mansell and Dr Steven Palmer, geographers in Exeter’s College of Life and Environmental Sciences, the tool provides a powerful digital teaching and research aid, enabling users to encounter the world’s most demanding environments from the comfort of a computer.

The event will be hosted by Gil Toffell (Learning on Screen) with demonstrations of the tool given by Dr Mansell and Dr Palmer.
Academic institutions wishing to try out the software will be able to do so by downloading it from a dedicated page on the Learning on Screen website.
The package will be ready for use in teaching and research upon launch, and new features are planned for future versions.
