Catherine Dupre co-convened an international conference on Icelandic constitutional reform.
Catherine Dupré and Ágúst Thór Árnason convened an international conference in Akureyri (Iceland) on 23-24 September 2016 to discuss the constitutional reform process ahead of the general election on 29 October in Iceland.
Held over two days, the conference provided a unique forum of discussion at the heart of a historical process of constitutional reform which started with the ‘pots and pans revolution’ in the wake of the financial crisis in Iceland. The first day was held in English with a range of international speakers and the second day mostly in Icelandic with a cross-section of Icelandic experts and personalities. The key note addresses were given by the President of the Republic of Iceland, the Icelandic Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Icelandic Parliament. The discussion focused on the key issues of the reform proposals put before the Icelandic parliament and on their wider political and theoretical dimensions.

The conference was sponsored by the Prime Minister´s Office and the Constitutional Committee and was hosted by the University of Akureyri.
