Dr Stephen Skinner presents paper on comparative criminal legal history at the University of Teramo

On 26 -27 May Dr Stephen Skinner was invited to participate in an international conference at the University of Teramo, Italy, on criminal legal history, criminal law and criminology.

Entitled 'L'Atlante Criminale: Responsibilità e Pericolisità sociale tra vecchie e nuove emergenze’ the conference commemorated the life and work of Professor Mario Sbriccoli, one of the foremost Italian legal historians. Bringing together numerous experts in the field, the conference addressed the development and legal response to issues of criminal responsibility and dangerousness from the late nineteenth century to the present. Dr Skinner's paper, entitled 'Il nemico come oppositore politico-ideologico: un confronto tra Italia e Gran Bretagna negli anni Trenta', outlined a comparative analysis of the law on inciting military disobedience in the interwar period and related it to contextual forces shaping state security in the modern world.
