Exeter Law degree wins Franco-British Lawyers Society award
Our LLB in English Law and French Law / Master 1 (Maitrise en Droit) has won an academic award from the Franco-British Lawyers Society.
The Franco-British Lawyers Society awards each year two academic prizes: The Prix Universitaire Robertson-Horsington for France, and the UK Academic Award for the United Kingdom.
The aim of these prizes is to reward each year a British and French university offering degree programmes which promote Franco-British legal understanding, thus enabling law students, academics and lawyers from both sides of the Channel to work together, and to understand and appreciate both the Common Law and Civil Law systems and the very different methods of legal reasoning on which they are based.
The amount of the UK Academic Award is £1000. It will allow us to create a fund and to award a prize of £200 each year for five consecutive years to the most outstanding students enrolled in the programme. The student winners will be chosen not only for their academic excellence, but also for their strong motivation to contribute to the enhancement of Franco-British legal relations and understanding.
The Franco-British Lawyers Society Academic Committee awarded the prize for ‘the excellent LLB in English Law and French Law/Master 1 (Maîtrise en Droit) that it offers in partnership with the University of Rennes 1’.
The award ceremony will take place during the Annual Reception of the FBLS at the House of Lords on Monday 27 January 2020, from 6pm to 8pm. The award will presented by Lord Hope of Craighead and collected by the programme director Dr Frederic Rolland.
