Jonathan Cooper OBE gives Human Rights and Democracy Forum inaugural lecture

On 2 October the Human Rights and Democracy Forum was officially launched with an inaugural guest lecture, held at the University of Exeter.

Jonathan Cooper OBE, barrister at Doughty Street Chambers and an Associate Member of the Forum, gave a lecture entitled ‘On Happiness: Democracy, Equality and Human Rights.’ The lecture addressed key aspects of the relationships among human rights and democracy, including current issues of self-determination, access to information and the role of the media, as well as the impact of Brexit, and generated lively discussion. The audience included faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as guests from the local community.
