On 25 March 2015 Dr Stephen Skinner convened a workshop on the use of lethal force in policing and the right to life under the European Convention on Human Rights.
Held at Doughty Street Chambers, London, the workshop brought together academics, practitioners, the police and NGOs. Speakers included Sir Keir Starmer QC and Jonathan Cooper (Doughty Street Chambers), John Wadham (formerly Deputy Chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission), Daniel Machover, Partner, Hickman and Rose Solicitors), Deputy Chief Constable Simon Chesterman (National Lead for Armed Policing), Detective Chief Superintendent Brian Dillon (Metropolitan Police Service), Tanja Rakusic-Hadzic (Head of the Criminal Law Co-Operation Unit, Council of Europe) and Dr Stephen Skinner (Centre for European Legal Studies, University of Exeter).
