The Law School's Moot Court
Mooting season officially open; mooting teams for 2015/16 announced
Monday evening on 5 October 2015 marked the beginning of this year’s mooting season. Staff and students gathered in the Moot Court to celebrate the official opening of what we hope will be another excellent year of mooting for Exeter University. Over drinks and canapés, students were able to meet other fellow mooters as well as the members of staff involved in the University’s thriving mooting programme.
The event also marked the announcement of students successful in trials for national and international mooting competitions. With an excellent response to the call for applications, both the quantity and quality of applications was very high. After a rigorous interview process, the panel composed of our director of mooting Dr Kubo Macak and the Bracton Law Society mistresses of the moot Meghan Bryson and Eleanor Sharrock announced the teams that will represent the University at external competitions in 2015/16.
Exeter Law School will be sending teams to seven national competitions, namely Blackstone’s Advocacy Competition (Neema Daniel and Jake Pritchard); ESU-Essex Court Chambers National Moot Competition (Kevin Ho Yuan Chang and Spencer Lee); Landmark Chambers Property Law Moot (Justin Kanji and Zuhayr Merali); NSLS National Mooting Competition (team 1: Liam Voysey and Victoria Tredrea; team 2: Casandra Phua and Johny Gill); OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition (Annabel Goulding and Jaysen Sharpe); UKSLA Moot Competition (Holly Sumbler and Cosmina Crainiceanu); and Inner Temple Inter-Varsity Moot (Ellie Sharrock and Meghan Bryson).
Three teams that will enter international competitions on behalf of the Law School were also announced at the event, including the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition (Rema Jean Bleik and Timothy Chen); Jean-Pictet Competition (Ammani Mathivanan, Josef Valvoda, and Pan Papakyprianou); and Oxford International Intellectual Property Law Moot (Tadiwa Mandinyenya, Pauline Belleau, and Emmeline Chiew).
Good luck to all of them!
