Mooting success: Jean-Pictet Competition 2016

Exeter Law School team composed of Panayiotis Papakyprianou, Ammani Mathivanan, and Josef Valvoda have been selected to participate in the 2016 Jean-Pictet Competition in International Humanitarian Law. The team is coached by Dr Kubo Mačák.

The Jean-Pictet Competition is a week long training event on international humanitarian law (IHL) intended for students (undergraduate or above in Law, Political Science, military academies, etc.). It consists in “taking law out of the books”, by simulations and role plays, allowing the jury of the Competition to evaluate teams’ theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of IHL. The Competition will take place from 19 to 26 March 2016 in Évian-les-Bains, France.

The team was selected from among 112 teams hailing from 48 countries around the world. Two groups of 16 teams each will participate in the English-speaking session and one group of 16 teams will participate in the French-speaking session. The Exeter team will compete in the English-speaking session.

Many congratulations to Pan, Ammani, and Josef and good luck for the international rounds of the competition!
