Professor Schmitt speaks at Columbia University
Professor Schmitt of the Law School and Strategy and Security Institute, recently spoke at a Columbia University Law School workshop.
The workshop examined unlawful conduct by non-State groups and possibilities for motivating them to comply with humanitarian law. He addressed the relationship between humanitarian law and asymmetrical conflict, as illustrated in the recent Gaza Conflict and that between States and transnational terrorist groups.
Professor Schmitt has also been appointed to a four year term as a member of the Editorial Board of the International Review of the Red Cross, the journal of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The journal is the premier publication dealing with humanitarian law and policy.
