Exeter University Magna Carta Moot Final

The grand final of the Magna Carta Moot was held in Exeter’s Guildhall on the evening of Thursday 11 June 2015 as part of the many events that have been happening around Exeter to mark the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta.

Including a moot as part of the festivities was especially welcome because these celebrations were intended as forward looking; aimed not only at today’s lawyers but also those yet to qualify. The final was a very well argued moot; the points of law in question provided all four finalists with an opportunity to display their mooting flair. With such strong submissions and questioning from Judges Paul Waterworth and John Neligan, it was no surprise that the moot was of an extremely high standard.

The overall winners of the competition were Annabel Goulding and Neema Daniel who will both have the chance to take part in a mini-pupillage at Magdalen Chambers. The submissions were rounded up with a detailed judgement delivered by the judges. All in all, the evening was a very enjoyable occasion and a fantastic way to end such a great year for mooting at Exeter.
