Dr Joseph Lee delivered training seminars at the Taiwan Stock Exchange
Dr Joseph Lee held Impact Cultivation seminars funded by the Economics and Social Research Council UK (ESRC) at the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE). The Taiwan Stock Exchange and Tsar & Tsai Law Firm are the non-academic partners in this project.
The aim of the seminars is to devise effective systems for stock exchange interconnections. The two major themes are: 1. A study on how professionals as gatekeepers can implement the governance norms of the TWSE so as to improve capital market governance based on the UK experience; 2. Identifying ways in which the TWSE can improve the interoperability of its post-trade systems so as to link with UK and European intermediaries while focusing on its need for financial stability.
Dr Lee continues working on collaborative research projects with the two non-academic partners and will seek to find non-academic partners in the UK and EU to enhance the impact of this research. The TWSE and Tsar & Tsai Law Firm will sponsor an international conference on 7 October in Taiwan where participants from UK, EU, Japan, Korea, and Singapore will discuss innovative ways for connecting stock exchanges and consider their impacts on retail investors and regional economies. Major securities banks have also agreed to participate in an impact co-creation project to develop sustainable models for connecting with foreign exchanges and markets.
