Dr Frédéric Olivier Rolland and Ms Lucie Morille
Exeter – Rennes : an academic partnership that lasts
As part of the academic partnership between the Law Faculties of the Universities of Exeter and Rennes 1 which will soon be 25 years old, the Rennes 1 Law Faculty at the invitation of Professor Catherine-Thérèse Barreau-Saliou, Director of the Magistère Juriste d'Affaires Franco-Britannique (JAFB), hosted Dr Frédéric Olivier Rolland, Director of the double-degree LLB in English Law and French Law / Master 1 (Maîtrise en Droit).
This year, 17 Exeter students are studying in Rennes 1 a Master 1 in European Law or in Private Law, and 24 Rennes 1 students are studying for one of the Exeter LLM pathways.
During this visit, two information meetings and a research conference were held:
The first information meeting was held by Dr Frédéric Olivier Rolland and Mr Benoit Josset, International Office Administrative Coordinator, with Exeter students currently reading a Master 1 in the Rennes 1 Law Faculty. This very productive and informative meeting, in the presence of Rennes 1 members of the academic and administrative staff, gave the Exeter students the opportunity to feedback and discuss their academic and cultural experiences in detail.
The second information meeting was held by Dr Frédéric Olivier Rolland and Ms Lucie Morille, International officer, for the attention of the Rennes 1 students of the JAFB who shall be reading an LLM the following year in the Exeter Law School. This meeting provided full academic material about the postgraduate studies at Exeter, and extensive information about cultural differences and life on a British campus. This was followed by an open floor for questions.
Dr Frédéric Rolland concluded with a research conference on “La Fondation et l’Evolution Présente du Droit Constitutionnel Britannique” for the academic staff and students of the JAFB & the Pole Excellence Droit.
