Exeter BAME Law is making a difference to the Law community in Exeter

Exeter BAME Law have clear goals of being an inclusive platform, of promoting access to equal career opportunities and of inspiring the student body at the university, all of which have been evident in across their activities  this term.  The student led initiative in conjunction with the Law School In the ‘Students as Change Agents  Programme’ was formed last year  and held an official Launch this term with some inspiring speakers from across the legal industry who spoke to the audience about their own  pathways in Law.  Exeter BAME Law have been contributing to the Black History Month campaign across the university this October, reflecting on the diverse histories of those from African and Caribbean descent and their achievements and contributions to the social political, economic and cultural development of the UK and in conjunction with Master of Laws program hosted a workshop on Social Justice Issues and Inclusion presented by the Exeter Law School Master of Laws (LLM) Students. And for careers, as well as promoting sign up to events such as Denton’s Student Insight event which is being presented by the companies Black Professionals Network, the group has secured a visit for BAME students to Slaughter & May’s offices to learn about the life of a Corporate Lawyer in this Magic Circle firm.
