Yankee Operational Law Conference 2014

Professor Schmitt recently opened the annual Yankee Operational Law Conference at the United States Naval War College.

The conference brings together military attorneys from the United States Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard to address contemporary legal issues affecting military operations. The topics range from the current situation in Ukraine to the progress being made on closing the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay.

Professor Schmitt spoke on cyber warfare, including the work he is doing at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence as Director of the Tallinn 2.0 Project. That project is examining the law governing malicious cyber that do not rise to the level of war.
