Humanities subject successes in the Complete University Guide
The University of Exeter moves up from 13th to 10th place in The Complete University Guide’s ranking of 124 UK universities for 2014, which was published on Monday 29 April.
It is the first time that Exeter has entered The Complete University Guide’s (CUG) national top ten of UK universities.
Improvements are particularly impressive in the HUMS OLD Feb24, where all our subjects have risen in the rankings or else maintained already excellent positions in their respective top ten.
Subjects on the rise include English OLD Apr24 (up to 4th from 7th), History OLD Mar24 (8th from 11th), and (both rising to 12th from 15th), (12th from 13th), Iberian Languages (15th from 19th) and Drama OLD Apr24 (up to 6th from 11th). Both History and Drama have moved firmly into the top ten.
Theology remains 4th in the country, Archaeology OLD Mar24 5th, 6th and Classics and Ancient History OLD Mar24 6th.
Professor Nick Kaye, Dean of the College of Humanities, said “We’re incredibly proud to have achieved so highly in so many subjects, and maintained excellent top ten positions in several others. The Complete University Guide is one of the UK’s ‘big three’ university guides, and has real influence. To have all our subjects firmly within, or very close to, the top ten in the country is an outstanding achievement.”
