Several College of Humanities subjects are in the Top 200 in the world
Humanities subjects placed amongst world’s best by influential international rankings
League tables published on Wednesday 8 May 2013 show that the University of Exeter features in the world’s Top 200 institutions in 16 of the 30 subjects featured in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Humanities subjects have done particularly well in the new rankings. English is now recognised as being amongst the Top 100 in the world, while Modern Languages entered the Top 200 for the first time. History is also in the Top 150 in the world.
2,858 universities were evaluated for this, the third edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, and 678 institutions ranked in total. 68 million citations were analysed and 8,391 programmes were researched.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Steve Smith said, “It has been another great year for the University as we become recognised externally for our excellence. As we are now firmly one of the Top 10 universities in the UK, we expect to see our position internationally reflect our domestic success.”
