Brain Awareness Week will highlight everyday impact of neuroscience
The University of Exeter invites staff, students and members of the public to learn more about the human brain as part of Brain Awareness Week.
A number of programmes open to the public will run over the course of the week (11th-17th March), which will focus on increasing public awareness of the benefits and the importance of neuroscientific research in everyday life.
The week will begin with a takeover of regular Monday night pub quiz at the Ram on March 11th, with themed questions on various topics such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
A series of midweek seminars will provide students and members of the public the opportunity to find out more about the University’s involvement in various areas of neuroscience. Some of Exeter’s world-leading researchers – like Dr Katie Lunnon and Professor Jon Mill – will discuss their role in the field.
Towards the end of the week, Exeter students are invited to Meet a Neuroscientist. This Ask me Anything (AMA) session will take place in the Forum on Streatham Campus, Friday 19 March.
Brain Awareness Week is an annual, global campaign which aims to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. The week is supported by the Dana Foundation – a private philanthropic organisation dedicated to advancing brain research and educating the public on future areas of neuroscience research.
Brain Awareness Week at Exeter is being funded by the British Neuroscience Association, the largest UK professional body representing all aspects of neuroscience.
