Title: The Global Performance State: international development, security assistance and the Central Asian ‘weak state'
Dr. Heathershaw discussed state performances of “weak states” as they are transformed into globalized polities in Central Asia. It promises to be an interesting discussion on the circumstances of a unique condition of a state with a strong-executive but weak local institutions and how they deal with neoliberal/global economic and political networking demands (with unintended consequences for the latter!).
