Exeter enters global 100 for Social Sciences
The University of Exeter has strengthened its position as being among the very best universities in the world for Social Sciences, according to the latest league tables.
The subject now ranks 81st in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Social Sciences Rankings 2015-16, the first time it has appeared in the global 100 rankings. In the UK, Exeter is ranked 14th.
The Social Sciences ranking assesses the top 100 Universities in the world in this field. They are analysed across 13 performance indicators in a wide range of activity, encompassing teaching, research quality and the international influence of research, international outlook and industry income.
The news comes after the University broke into the overall THE World University Rankings global 100 for the first time, at number 93. Last week, Life Sciences at the University of Exeter was ranked 82nd globally, and 15th in the UK.
Professor Debra Myhill, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean for the College of Social Sciences and International Studies said: “Social Sciences at Exeter is committed to research which changes our understanding of human behaviour and transforms life chances in society. Our research pushes boundaries, challenges assumptions, and generates solutions. We are delighted that this research is now recognised as internationally outstanding.”
The College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter carries out world-class research and teaching across a number of related disciplines, including Arab and Islamic Studies, Education, Law, Politics, Sociology, Philosophy and Anthropology and Strategy and Security.
