Research news for July 2016
Welcome to a round up of the research news from July 2016 for Sport and Health Sciences.
Grant success
Sam Vine, Mark Wilson and Aurleliu Lavric from Psychology secured a grant from the defence science and technology laboratory (DSTL, £84k) to examine the potential utility of cognitive training techniques for specialist users in the forces. Phase 1 consists of a systematic review of existing cognitive training methods, and in phase 2 we will test the efficacy of one or more of these training techniques in a randomised control trial.
Sam Vine, Mark Wilson & Gavin Buckingham were awarded an Impact Acceleration Cultivation Award (£3k) to collaborate with Exeter based nuclear industry human factors experts Toby deBurgh and Kate Sprake, and their training production company Cineon productions. The long-term aim of this collaboration is to develop novel human factors training for safety critical industries such as nuclear, medicine, military and aviation.
