FXU football team wins Cornish league with the help of the Annual Fund
CSM (Camborne School of Mines) Football Club won the Trelawny Premier League Title after receiving a generous award from the University of Exeter Annual Fund.
Following the award of a £500 grant from the Annual Fund, Camborne School of Mines FC were able to purchase a much needed new playing kit for the squad. CSM FC are the only club that offers students the opportunity to play competitive Saturday league football in Cornwall, and the new kit allowed the team to do this whilst looking professional, respectable and united whilst playing.
Toby Purvis, CSM Football Captain, commented on the award that the team received: “The funding from the Alumni Annual Fund enabled us to get another kit at the end of last season which was so important. The new kit brought excitement and a buzz to the squad which was really helpful both on and off the pitch, and gave us a sense of pride in the jersey.”
He also commented on how donations however small can make a significant impact on the student experience: “It means a lot to the club and I to have access to those funds in order to keep our kit and equipment to a high standard, as without it we may struggle.”
The Annual Fund continuously supports students and their time at the University of Exeter, and each donation, no matter how small, has a las5ting impact on the student experience. To find out more about the Annual Fund, visit our webpage.
