Alumna Megan Hallinan delivered her masterclass as part of the 'Communications Challenges' module
Virtual Masterclass delivered by alumna for BA Communications students
Flexible Combined Honours alumna Megan Hallinan delivered an incredibly insightful masterclass virtually to students on the University’s new BA Communications programme.
This is the first year for this new programme, which provides a mix of history, theory, practice and work experience, with the aim of equipping our students with the skills needed for entering a range of communications-related roles.
In the 'Communications Challenges' module students work in groups to develop and deliver a range of social media content for Instagram and Twitter that forms part of a class-wide social media campaign raising awareness of digital inequality. The module is predominantly designed to provide the students with teamwork and project management skills within the larger context of running a social media campaign.
Megan spoke to students on this module earlier this year, and her masterclass was extremely well received by all. Megan has over 15 years of experience in Social and PR, both in-agency and in-house, across a variety of sectors including food & drink, lifestyle, finance and tech. Her expertise in social spans from content creation and community management through to paid social advertising and working with influencers, regularly speaking on the latter in industry media and panels.
She graduated from the University of Exeter in 2009 with a degree in Creative Writing, French and Film and started her career in television production before moving into the world of PR. She now works as Head of PR & Social at MBAstack agency in Covent Garden, with clients including Comté cheese, Hofmeister Beer and Royal Mail.
