Sir Steve signs new exchange agreement with UBC’s President, Professor Santa Ono
University of Exeter strengthens global partnerships in Canada
In early June 2019, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Steve Smith and the global partnerships team visited Canada to continue to strengthen Exeter’s links with universities around the world.
First stop was the University of British Columbia (UBC) where Sir Steve signed a new exchange agreement with UBC’s President, Professor Santa Ono. The agreement significantly expands the opportunities for undergraduate students to move between Exeter and British Columbia for their education. Both universities offer students a high quality teaching and research experience in beautiful parts of the world.
On Saturday 1st June, the University of Exeter celebrated the start of a successful new Masters programme - International Heritage Management and Consultancy – which includes collaboration with UBC. Students on this innovative programme recently completed their first field course in Canada and celebrated at the impressive Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in Vancouver. Sir Steve Smith, alongside Gallery curator Beth Carter, welcomed students, academics, university supporters and members of the heritage industry. The evening was an opportunity to showcase results and strengthen partnerships with communities and organisations in the region.
Next stop Toronto with an event at the University Club of Toronto to bring together Exeter Law School alumni and prospective students. Sir Steve welcomed successful Law School alumni, supporters of the University and the next generation who are considering study at Exeter. The University of Exeter is proud of the numerous Canadian students who have gone on to have successful careers in Law and it was a great opportunity to celebrate, thank them for their continued support and forge links with the law students of the future.
