Rothamsted links scientific research to farming practice
Master’s students from the Centre for Rural Policy Research visit Rothamsted Research world leading experimental research farm
Master’s students from the Centre for Rural Policy Research visited Rothamsted Research’s cutting edge and world leading experimental research farm, North Wyke Farm Platform near Okehampton. The field visit was part of the Knowledge Exchange Module for the MSc in Food Security, which will also be available to those undertaking the new Food Studies MA from 2018-19.
They learned about the Platform’s unique facilities for linking scientific research to farming practice, and explored Rothamsted’s approach to knowledge exchange with policy and local communities.
Rothamsted has been conducting experiments in agricultural practice for 175 years, providing the farming community with invaluable practical information about sustainable and productive practices. Rothamsted’s research informs public and academic debates about food security, sustainable farming systems and cropping carbon amongst other topics. See their website for more details.
Both students and staff attended the field trip to learn more about the research currently underway at Rothamsted.
