Knowledge Exchange for RAMB Project
In late May 2017, Dr Mohsen Ebrahimi and Dr Seyed Sadr from the Centre for Water Systems (CWS) enjoyed a fruitful trip to Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Knowledge exchange was the top of their priorities. Dr Ebrahimi is a Research Fellow working with Professor Djordjevic on the RAMB project, which is providing crucial information on the ‘scour’ of masonry bridges when under flood conditions. While in China, he worked with a group at the Hydraulic Engineering Department of Tsinghua University and the Institute of River and Coastal Engineering. He worked on flumes in two laboratories.
As well as attending presentations, Dr Ebrahimi presented his own research entitled “Effect of debris on hydrodynamics & scour at masonry bridges”.
Visits such as this are vital for the Centre for Water Systems and the institutions they visit, ensuring that the research for both parties benefits from international relationships.
