Creative collaborators' summer show

The Creative Studio in the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) is currently hosting a summer show featuring work-in-progress from three current collaborations between ESI researchers and creative practitioners.

The project (through which artists Sara Bowler and Lizzy Masterton are working with ESI researchers to establish a temporary centre of cultural activity on Goonhilly Downs) is showing a banner which will be one of the focal points for a public event in September. Sam Gerlach and , who are working together on , have contributed a series of crafted objects inspired by mathematical models and providing fundamental insights into the dynamic processes of climate and environmental change. , a collaboration between Sue Bamford and , is displaying some of the items of upcycled clothing produced in a series of public sewing workshops which encouraged participants to understand fashion’s environmental and social impacts.

The ESI will host a public opening on Wednesday 15 July, from 14.30 to 17.30. All are welcome to view the work and to meet the collaborating artists and academics. The exhibition can also be viewed until the end of August on weekdays, 9 am-5pm.

The Creative Exchange Programme, a joint initiative with Falmouth University’s Research in Art, Nature and the Environment (RANE) research group, aims to facilitate collaboration between creative practitioners and ESI researchers who share an interest in issues of environment and sustainability, and to stimulate opportunities for public engagement and collaborative learning. Through the programme, the ESI aims to help develop the region’s creative industries, inspire research and develop new ways to view and understand human relationships with the environment.
