Stephen Skinner took part in an online workshop on rule of law backsliding organised on 19th-20th November 2020 by the Judges under Stress project based at the University of Oslo. His paper was entitled 'Fault Lines in the Rule of Law and the Shadows of History: Europe’s Present and the Presence of its Past' and explored how the construction of legal history and historical time can provide critical insights into the fragilities at the heart of the rule of law concept in contemporary Europe.
