Robert Lamb gives paper on human rights at the Essex Human Rights Centre on 9th Feb 22
Focussing on the relevance of social science to human rights law and activism, Robert Lamb's paper was part of a panel discussion of the newly published fourth edition of Professor Michael Freeman’s (Essex) Human Rights (Polity, 2022) and the speakers included Professor Samuel Moyn (Yale) and Professor Ann Marie Clark (Purdue). The discussion covered questions of the history (and historiography) of human rights, the relationship between human rights and democratisation, the challenges of cross-cultural identification and measurement of human rights violation, and the recent convergences and divergences between human rights campaigning and the peace movement.
