Hybrid talk is a success

The EPSRC Hub for Quantitative Modelling in Healthcare held its first hybrid talk on the evening of 29th March 2022.

The event was opened by Professor Neil Gow, DVC for Research and Impact followed by an insightful talk between Sir Dermot Turing and Dr Kyle Wedgwood on the scientific achievements of Alan Turing. Over the course of the evening Dermot and Kyle discussed Alan Turing's work in codebreaking, computation and biology and answered questions on Alan's contributions during World War 2, his thoughts on whether machines could learn and how mathematics can be used to understand living systems.

Several departments were involved in organisation of this talk with special thanks to Research Events support from Helen Gilhespy and Sabrina Smith, Roz Harrison, AV support from Brian Hodges, Event Exeter support from Ben Samuels, porters and cleaners, our student volunteers Ignacio del Amo, Huda Madhi,  Henry Kerr, Gaby Wang and Hub Project Co-ordinator Liza Cheshire.

A recording of the talk is available here, watch from 12 minutes:
