Dr Helena Wray contributed to the ‘Kept Apart’ project

Thousands of British families have been separated by harsh immigration restrictions implemented in 2012. Dr Helena Wray is proud to have contributed to the ‘Kept Apart’ project which focuses on the experiences of these families.

It was led by Katharine Charsley and funded by the Brigstow Institute, both at University of Bristol, working with Reunite Families UK and others. Together with the specialist organisation ‘Trauma Awareness’, we designed a listening project to explore the experiences of British partners separated from their spouses and/or children, including how they live with the uncertainty of their situation, and out of this we made a short book illustrated by Michael Grieve, himself a member of Reunite Families. members.

The book was launched on Monday 14th September. You can read the book and more about the project here: https://www.reunitefamiliesuk.co.uk/kept-apart-project.
