1st team squad nets training

BUCS Men's Indoor Cricket

The University of Exeter's first team Cricket Squad are well on their journey to success as demonstrated recently.

On Saturday February 20th The University of Exeter men's 1st XI successfully completed their regional semi final challenge. During game one, Exeter recorded a below par 117/2 but restricted Brunel to 100 and a resultant 17 run victory. Game two however, presented a strong Cardiff team but Exeter's bowlers were most impressive, as they bowled Cardiff all out for just 65 runs. Exeter's Men won comfortably, guided by captain Jon Todd who posted his second unbeaten score of 25. Alek Barkett was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets.

Exeter now return to Cardiff for the final on March 12th, to compete against teams from Coventry, Birmingham, Solent, Leeds and Leeds Met Carnegie.

Tom Worthington, Club Captain and 3rd year Sports and Science student said: "Following a scratchy victory against Brunel, Exeter produced a truly dominating performance against last years finalist Cardiff. The team was composed and focused with some outstanding bowling and batting to see Exeter home. Exeter is now heading for finals day with the team in high spirit, few could argue that a BUCS gold is well within their grasp."
