The Devon Cricket Centre

Children's cricket coaching

14Children’s Cricket Coaching will be happening on 18th April 2011 at the superb Sir Christopher Ondaatje Devon Cricket Centre, in association with the Devon Cricket Board.

Coaching will take place 9am-5pm for children aged 8-13. The cost is just £20 for the day and places are limited to 24 - so please hurry!

The coaches are: Trevor Griffin and Matt Barnes. Both experienced Level 2 Cricket coaches.

The Devon Cricket Centre is based at the University of Exeter Sports Park, on the Streatham Campus and was completed in the summer of 2009. The centre was built in partnership with; The ECB (from the Club Community Development Programme), Sir Christopher Ondaatje, DCB, MCC, Lords Taverners, Devon County Cricket Club and the Tony Coles Trust.

The Cricket Centre is a venue for the whole community and heavily used by teams, individuals and companies. The centre is home to the DCB Clubs indoor cricket league as well as the University of Exeter Corporate Cricket League. Coaches are hand to offer quality 1:1 coaching or team coaching using the nets and bowling machines.

The ethos of this Children’s Cricket Coaching session is; enjoyment in quality. Children should have the opportunity to play cricket in a high quality and fun environment where they are stimulated to improve. Practice makes perfect as the saying goes, add quality and you have a recipe for success. There will be a maximum of 24 children.

There will be practical sessions in batting, bowling and fielding as well as break-out tactical and mind-setting sessions. The campus is a safe environment, with the Cricket Centre self-contained. Children will have plenty of rests during the day, but will need lots to drink, lunch and clothing suitable for indoor and outdoor training. Children do not need to be the best players in the world; the coaching will improve all players. Children do not need their own equipment, we have some available.
