Charity cricket event

On Tuesday March 29th the men's and ladies' cricket clubs staged a 'running a marathon between the wickets' event.

The event was organised to raise money for CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia In Children) - charity supported by recent honorary graduate Sir Ian Botham and club funds. Seven teams competed in the event and were required (as a team) to run 26 miles in full cricket kit. Teams ranged in numbers from five to ten and the quickest completion time was one hour and five minutes, with teams running in pairs, threes and in some cases more than that.

The aim is to stage the event every two years with the same charity intentions and hopefully an ongoing cricket club legacy.

Early indications are that funds raised should be in excess of £2000.

A great club effort and well done to everyone associated with the event.
