University of Exeter Sport represented in Europe

The University of Exeter Women's Rugby team won the European Universities Sports Association title by beating Lille 29-24 in an exciting final. Meanwhile the Women's Tennis performances have given them a chance in European competition.

University of Exeter's Director of Rugby, Mark Tomlinson said: "There was fantastic team spirit shown in winning the title over the two long, hot days.  Our success was built on solid defence, great commitment, high fitness levels and the fact that the players enjoy their rugby."               

This is an exciting event for the team and further reinforces the University of Exeter's reputation for excellence in Sport.

The Tennis team head to St. Gallen on 4th September due to their excellent performances in getting to the British Universities & Colleges Sport semi-finals. The team will pit players, including Tennis Scholar Yvanna Kurlak against some of the best University players in Europe.

Coach Tom Lambert said: “Qualifying reflects the continued improvement of the Tennis high performance programme. This will be an outstanding experience for players and coach alike and hopefully will be a springboard for future success across the whole Sports Office.”
