Victoria Park are hosting a free open day on 12 June, 16:00-18:00
National Mini Tennis Week hits Exeter
Children in Exeter are being encouraged to pick up a racket and play tennis as Victoria Park Tennis Club, in association with Exeter Tennis Centre, celebrates National Mini Tennis Week.
Sponsored by Highland Spring, National Mini Tennis Week, running 10-16 June, aims to help over 15,000 children aged 4-9 from across the country experience and enjoy tennis at all levels.
As part of the celebration Victoria Park Tennis Club will be hosting a FREE open day on 12 June, 16:00-18:00. Run by Exeter Tennis Centre’s expert coaches the day promises games, coaching and plenty of prizes for young participants.
Georgina Loosemore, Devon’s Tennis Development Manager said: “With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport of tennis.
“Tennis is a family sport and mini tennis provides a great way for children to get involved and encourage families to play together in a fun and social environment.”
Exeter Tennis Centre works closely with the Devon LTA to provide programmes throughout the community both at Victoria Park and the Centre itself, based on Streatham Campus.
Director of Tennis Will McNally is excited by the prospect of getting more young people involved in a sport he is so passionate about. He commented: “As a coach it is always my number one priority to ensure that as many people as possible learn, develop and above all enjoy tennis.
Our [Exeter Tennis Centre’s] Victoria Park programmes are well established in the community and Exeter is lucky to have such a fantastic outdoor facility in the heart of the city. We look forward to greeting lots of young new tennis hopefuls on 12 June, and seeing the next generation of champions develop.”
