The Russell Seal Fitness Centre has seen a 70% increase in gym users.
Russell Seal Fitness Centre a huge success
Opened on the 5 September 2013, the Russell Seal Fitness Centre on the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus is already proving a huge a success.
The dedicated two storey facility features over 200 stations of the latest Life Fitness equipment as well as a new studio and changing rooms. The step change in variety and interactivity is already proving extremely popular.
“We are delighted with the response to the centre.” Commented Director of Sport Phil Attwell. “So far this year we have seen a significant increase in students and staff making use of the gym, and it is fantastic to be able to offer them such a high quality facility.
“The feedback we have been getting has been incredibly positive, and it reinforces that we have made the right decision to invest in an entirely new set up. When we first started this project, we wanted to create a world class training facility, I really think we have achieved this, and judging by the comments we have had from our customers, they think so too.
“The numbers we have show that the Centre has been a significant success in every sense. We have seen a significant rise in those using the gym, over 15000 visitors already, but we also have the capacity to accommodate this increase. The size of the gym and variety of equipment were things that we thought through very carefully, and it is making a huge difference particularly in the early evenings when the gym is at its busiest.
“A while ago we increased the Sports Park's opening hours to make it easier for our customers to fit the gym around their busy schedules. By opening at 06:30 and closing at 22:00 during the week, we have tried to ensure that there is always time for people to come and visit us.
“We built this facility with the expressed aim of getting more people to enjoy health and fitness in the best possible space. This is something we are already achieving, but there is always more we can do. Health Services is such an important part of life, so it is very pleasing for us to be able to make a difference to so many people.”
