BodyPump and BodyCombat are part of the global LesMills fitness franchise

University of Exeter Sport Launches new Les Mills classes for 2014!

University of Exeter Sport has unveiled two exciting new additions to its spring 2014 fitness class timetable.

Introducing BodyCombat™ and BodyPump™ for the first time, the two classes offer a different focus to classes currently on the timetable.

Combining powerful moves from a range of self-defence disciplines, including Karate, boxing, Taekwondo and Muay Thai; BodyCombat™ is a non-contact workout that promises to leave participants feeling ready to take on the world.

BodyPump™, meanwhile offers a non-impact weights-based exercise class that works every major muscle group in the body using weights, a bar and motivational music to drive better results.

Russell Seal Fitness Centre manager Chris Belcher is thrilled with the new arrivals, he commented: “The gym isn’t always for everyone; fitness classes are among our most popular activities at the Sports Park, and for a while now we have been looking at ways to bring something new to the table.

“BodyCombat™ and BodyPump™ are two of the most exciting classes in the world, so we are obviously delighted to be able to offer them to our customers, particularly at a time of year where many are looking for a new start.

“The classes are always easy to follow, with no complicated choreographed moves, so there is no danger of feeling lost or self-conscious. As with all our classes, a qualified instructor is always on-hand to provide constant encouragement and feedback throughout the session.”

In September 2013, the health and fitness offering at the Sports Park, on Streatham Campus, was hugely enhanced with the opening of the £6.5million Russell Seal Fitness Centre. Alongside the new additions, the classes timetable now features over 60 classes a week, with old favourites likes Yoga, Zumba and Studio Cycling still taking centre stage.

Chris added: “Every person likes to exercise in different ways and has their own personal goals, so variety is really important. Since the opening of the Russell Seal Fitness Centre in September, we have had time to settle into our new environment, and assess changes and additions we can make to improve the experience of everyone who visits us.

“The expansion of the classes timetable is part of this process and we will continue to explore new avenues to keep our customers engaged and motivated.”
