Bradbury flies in Japan.

Katie was selected for Wales to compete in the Espirito Santo Trophy at the World Amateur Team Championships and travelled with compatriots Chloe Williams and Rebecca Helen Harries to the Karuizawa 72 East Golf Club, Japan from 2-7 September.

Conducted by the World Amateur Team Championships are a biennial international amateur golf competition rotated among three geographic zones of the world: Asia-Pacific, American and European-African. Golf is played over four days, with the two lowest scores from each team being combined for a final score for the round.

The Welsh Amateur Champion overcame injury problems to score 75, 77, 75, and 77 around the highland course, with the team finishing on 583 securing a solid mid-table finish.

Katie commented: “To be selected for my country and play in the highest level amateur golf tournament for women was an absolute honour. The experience I have gained playing on a long and challenging course in Japan can only benefit my game in the future and I plan to share these experiences with the university team this year.

“I’m excited about the year ahead for the university team and we aim to be challenging again for the title in March and April 2015.”

The University Golf Club won the 2013 BUCS Premier League and National Championships, and were ranked third in the country last season.

The club has received an additional boost this year with the creation of the Vic Ambler Golf Centre on the University’s Streatham Campus which will allow squads to practice more regularly.

High Performance Manager Craig Townsend said: “Katie has had a brilliant summer, first travelling to the World University Games and then being selected for the Wales.

“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season. We’ve got some really promising new golfers coming through and some very strong players like Katie staying in the team. This year we’re fielding five golf teams for the first time and the new facility will help up coordinate our training and practice much more easily. It’s going to be an exciting season.”
