We are extremely grateful to the Alumni Golf Society for their continued support of University of Exeter Sport.

The new Alumni Golf Society Performance Analysis Suite

Established in 2005, the EUAGS host a number of golf events throughout the year that are open to all Exeter alumni, including matches against student teams. An achievement of the Society over many years has been the generous help provided by alumni in support of Sport Scholarships, helping to attract the very best student golfers to the University of Exeter.

Staff and students joined alumni and supporters at a special event to recognise the long-standing generosity and commitment of the Exeter University Alumni Golf Society (EUAGS).

Through the efforts of its members, funds raised have been used to support competition costs, strength and conditioning training, coaching provision and physiotherapy treatment for students at Exeter. The continued commitment of the Society has been influential in the development and success of the University’s Golf Programme, helping Exeter University Golf Club (EUGC) to become the most highly established university golfing society in the UK. The support of alumni and Society members John Gilbert (Economics, 1972) and Rod Alexander (History, 1971), has been instrumental in the Society’s success. John and Rod’s commitment in organising the annual golf events and fundraising activity has seen both become key volunteers and supporters of the University.

This Performance Analysis Suite recognises the long-standing generosity and commitment of the Alumni Golf Society. The University of Exeter names this space after the Exeter University Alumni Golf Society with sincere gratitude.

Video analysis is widely used by professional athletes and sports teams to review performance and enhance individual skills and team tactics. It has been used in recent years by a small number of University of Exeter sports teams that have video analysis skills within their coaching staff. The EUAGS Performance Analysis Suite will enable many more teams and individuals to learn video analysis skills, helping to enhance student sport performance while also developing the skills of student coaches.

The new facility has a number of MacBooks plus an IMac desktop, all with Sportscode Gamebreaker software. There are also two dry-wipe walls for coaching feedback and review and a Clever Touch interactive HD screen. The room has capacity for up to 18 team members at one time and will be a valued addition for many of our High Performance teams.

Craig Townsend, High Performance Manager, commented “The Performance Analysis Suite is fantastic addition to our High Performance Programme. It will provide a base for all match day video analysis, a specific space for game reviews and feedback and an on-site meeting space for our High Performance teams”

Rod Alexander commented "I was delighted to be invited on behalf of the Alumni Golf Society to open the Performance Analysis Suite. It is gratifying to hear that our fund raising efforts have assisted the University into becoming the top golf university and contributed towards the amazing golf facilities at the University. We have had a lot of fun developing the Alumni Golf section and thoroughly enjoyed playing and competing with the Golf Scholars who have been a credit to the University".

The University of Exeter is proud of it’s reputation for Excellence in Sport, a 6th place in the British Universities and Colleges Sport rankings in 2014/2015 and being recognised as the Times and Sunday Times Good Universities Guide 2016 Sports University of the Year reaffirm this.
