Touch win Mo Sista

The Mo-Sista event took place for the third year on Sunday the 29th of November. Mo-Sista is a charity event that raises money for Movember and promotes female participation in sport and physical activity. This year Mo-Sista was also the launch event for the #ThisGirlCan week, a week of events targeting female students.

This year, Mo-Sista consisted of touch rugby and football in the morning and netball and dodgeball in the afternoon after a break for lunch. There were ten teams entered from the rugby, hockey, swimming, netball, football, touch rugby, athletics, squash and history clubs and societies with nearly 100 ladies taking part during the day.

The day was a great opportunity for Exeter’s female students to try new sports or have some fun playing with new people. Dodgeball proved a particular hit, and everyone enjoyed the touch rugby and football despite the wet and windy weather. Netball was also as popular as ever, with many of the participants also regularly taking part in the weekly Intramural league.

Throughout the day there was close competition between the rugby team, football team and touch rugby 1st team with rugby and touch eventually emerging as the top two teams after the dodgeball. This meant that they faced each other in a final, winner takes all, game of dodgeball with the rest of the teams watching, ensuring an exciting atmosphere. In the end it came down to one girl from each team facing off against each other. Touch Rugby snatched the win with an exciting catch to bring an end to a very enjoyable day of activity.
