University experts and The Ellen MacArthur Foundation to work towards a circular economy

The Foundation, which was established in 2010, with the aim of accelerating the transition to a circular economy, was founded by the record-breaking around the world yachtswoman, Ellen MacArthur. The charity has emerged as a global thought leader, establishing the circular economy on the agenda of decision makers across business, government and academia.

Academics from the University’s Business School will work with the Foundation to support these organisations as they research new business models to overcome environmental and economic challenges.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Pioneer University programme is an international network of eight leading universities who are developing pioneering and innovative circular economy-orientated research or teaching programmes

As one of this select group The University of Exeter aims to demonstrate leadership in the sector via the development of a new Centre for a Circular Economy, where experts will develop new educational programmes intended to have global reach and support the research agenda of the Foundation and it’s 200 plus members.

The academics working in the new Centre for Circular Economy are internationally-renowned experts in complex systems modelling, natural capital and ecosystem services, advanced manufacturing, bioscience and the circular economy. They will also work to create a global network of experts who are working to help support the transition to a circular economy.
