Donated Bedding Heading To The Ukraine

Bedding diverted from landfill to charities

Thanks to the CARE team 250 of last year’s duvets and 500 pillows are heading to orphanages in the Ukraine due to a new partnership between the University and  OHOB a humanitarian charity based in the South West. Another 70 duvets and 140 pillows were collected by Turntable – who will distribute them among various charities and organisations within Exeter. Between OHOB and Turntable, all bedding that was potentially earmarked for landfill was in fact recycled with fantastic charities. This is a huge step forward in terms of reducing waste. It is also hoped that a collaboration will be set up with Turntable and Exeter City Council so that in future, there will be a hub where used bedding can be distributed to various charities rather than being sent to landfill.
