The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

On Friday 27 January Streatham, Falmouth and Penryn Campus all took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Bird species and numbers were recorded - you can find out the results below. Many thanks to the volunteers who braved a cold morning to take part.

Volunteers went to 5 different locations:

2 at Streatham, 2 at Penryn and 1 at Falmouth

  • 27 different species were seen in total and 165 individual birds counted
  • Penryn campus boardwalk had most species seen (18). Falmouth campus Fox Rosehill Gardens had most individual birds (43)
  • Blue tits (19), Blackbirds (16) and Woodpigeons (16) were most abundant overall.
  • 5 red list and 4 amber list species were recorded
  • We also saw rare birds such as a Sparrowhawk, Greenfinch, Grey Wagtail, and Firecrest
