University of Exeter announces £9k fee proposal for 2012

The proposal is subject to the approval of fair access and widening participation arrangements by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

As part of these new arrangements, Exeter is developing a new package of fee waivers and bursaries to encourage more applications from less well off students. When fee waivers are taken into account the average tuition fee will be less than £9k.

David Allen, Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive, said: ‘This will better enable us to direct resources at widening participation, fair access and improving the student experience. It is important that students can come and study at Exeter whatever their family background. We are already working with our Students’ Guild to identify priorities for investing in the student experience.’

The fee proposal was endorsed by the University’s Council (its governing body) at a meeting on 17 February. The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, which is a partnership between Exeter and Plymouth universities, will be announcing its fee at a later date.
