Seven outstanding winners were chosen from a record 158 nominations

Awards for Excellence in Professional Services

The winners of the second annual Professional Services Recognising Excellence awards have been revealed.

Seven outstanding winners were chosen from a record 158 nominations, with colleagues nominated within all areas of Professional Services on all three University of Exeter campuses. 

The winners are:

Outstanding team of the year

The Forum Project team who successfully delivered the £48m Forum. Staff from Strategic Planning and Change, Academic Services and Campus Services worked with hundreds of other colleagues, and the external auditors say the project management is outstanding.

Outstanding customer service

The Estate Development Services Mitigation Team who have worked behind the scenes to enable the delivery of £300 million of construction works on all three campuses.

Outstanding innovation or project of the year

The E-SR1 Team who have saved at least 15,210 sheets of paper and the circulation of 1,200 internal mail envelopes as well as countless staff hours by introducing an online recruitment system.

Outstanding contribution to the community or environment

The ‘Campus living laboratory’ team from Campus Services. The project provides students with a range of opportunities to use the campus for projects related to sustainability.

Outstanding value for money

Paul Grogan in Academic Services, who made savings of £130,000 per year on PC spending.  

Hero of the year

Delphine Jones, Communication and Marketing Services, who goes above and beyond her role as a graphic designer and delivers excellent service.

The Registrar’s special award was given to both the Forum Project Team and the Estate Development Services Mitigation Team.

David Allen OBE, Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive says: “Professional Services staff play a  central role in the University, and these awards are a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise their achievements. On the eve of finding out the University is once again in the top 10 of The Times Good University Guide it is fitting to hear so many great examples of positive contribution to the University’s success.”
