Cornwall Coach Conference 2022

The University of Exeter Coach Development Centre in collaboration with Tennis Cornwall and the Lawn Tennis Association hosted the 2022 Cornwall Coach Conference.

Over 50 tennis coaches from around the country attended the event at Newquay's Heron Tennis Centre, which comprised of various workshops and seminars from industry experts. Guest speakers included Dan Kiernan (Soto Tennis Academy, Spain), a specialist in the Psychological aspects of the game both on and off the court.

Louise Assioun (LTA), Dave Hardman (LTA) and Harry Ash (LTA), delivered on the Implementation of Disability Tennis within Club programmes. Shane Deacon (LTA) and Sam Richardson (LTA) discussed Skill Acquisition and Performance Principles within Junior Development and Matt Smith (LTA), who delivered on the topic of Facilitating Mental Skills for 10&U players via the new 'LTA Youth' initiative.

The Conference was a huge success, providing the coaches with knowledge and fresh ideas to apply within their respective programmes. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new. Special thanks to Julie Jones (LTA), Hilary Webster and Margaret Upton (Tennis Cornwall) for their invaluable help and support both before and during the conference.
